Recap of the College Art Association Conference
Well everyone, the CAA conference is now over. What an amazing couple of days.
While talking with all the different people who came to our booth- whether they were previously acquainted with Starry Night Retreat or met us for the first time in Chicago- a couple things became clear about our residency!
1. People love the Southwestern landscape
No matter if the person lived there for years, or just passed through on a road trip, everyone agreed there is something incredible about the landscape of the Southwest. And for some artists, that’s enough right there to bring them to Starry Night.
2. Artists need to be with their loved ones.
One of the most common problems we heard from artists has been “I’d have loved to go, but I want to experience it with my wife/husband/partner, etc.” One of the many great things about Starry Night is – you can!
3. Artists need more programs flexible to their schedule.
Starry Nights lets you decide how long you will stay with us, which means if you only have a couple of weeks before work drags you back, or all the time in the world, we can work with you.
4. People like hot springs.
Truth or Consequences is a hot springs district, and lets face it, we can all benefit from a relaxing dip.
5. Artists come back to see us!
This is Dafna, one of our previous artists in residence at Starry Night. She was one of a few people who had come to our program before and stopped by to say hi at our booth.
The CAA Conference was a great experience, we were happy to meet everyone who came. And for those of you who couldn’t make it out to Chicago this year, start making plans because this is an annual event and next year will be in the Big Apple.
